in partnership with

top What is Explore School?
In January 2009, ExplorationWorks and the Helena School District together offered an innovative pilot program for home school families in the Helena area. Homeschool students can register part–time with Helena Public Schools to participate in rich, hands–on science experiences at ExplorationWorks. Classes are intended to enrich and compliment what is being taught at home. Due to great success of the pilot program, we are pleased to announce the continuation of Explore School in 2009-2010.

top Kyle Hunter – Explore School Lead Teacher
Kyle Hunter is a certified teacher employed by ExplorationWorks and Helena Public Schools. Kyle’s undergraduate degree is in Biological Sciences and Ecology. Kyle’s love of teaching and science led him to Concordia University in Portland, Oregon where he obtained his Masters of Arts in Teaching with an endorsement in Biology and Integrated Sciences. Since being employed by ExplorationWorks, Kyle’s professional development experiences have included training in exploring the theory and practice of inquiry-based teaching and learning at the Exploratorium’s Institute for Inquiry in San Francisco. He is trained as a facilitator and professional developer of teachers in inquiry education.
Kyle grew up in Helena, doing what every outdoor Montana kid does hiking, skiing, fishing ang enjoying the outdooors. As a young adult Kyle pursued his love of Montana’s big sky country, spending time fly-fishing and teaching skiing in the Big Sky/Bozeman area. After he completed his graduate studies in Oregon, it is no surprise that Kyle moved back to the Big Sky to enjoy what Montana has to offer! Kyle’s more recent love is his family: he and his wife have one child and another on the way.
